Some Second Opinions ::

“The college’s commitment to providing courses which embrace both academic and professional traditions is impressive as is the breadth of active and relevant journalism experience of the teaching staff.

“Its determination to provide routes into journalism for young women in general, and the financial support it offers to young women from poorer backgrounds in particular, is admirable.”

Bob Bennett,
A British journalist who helped set up the University of Sheffield’s Department of Journalism Studies in the U.K and taught there for ten years.

“I feel that the College of Journalism and Mass Communication has done a great service for journalism education in this country by initiating the study of journalism at a Master’s level. I consider it a privilege to have been associated with it from the very beginning, albeit in an informal way.”

Mr. Bharat Dutta Koirala,
Secretary General of Ramon Magsaysay Award Winner and retired editor of the Rising Nepal newspaper

“I am very impressed by the work of Dr. Manju Mishra. This country needs to educate journalists who are able to report objectively on what is happening in this country. Without that we cannot have the kind of dialogue we need to build a democracy. If she can get the international support she is seeking to improve the quality of journalism education, it will be a real service to Nepal. The UGC has limited resources and our priority is the universities but we will do whatever we can to support her”

Professor Bidur Kumar Upaadhyaya,
Chairman of the Nepal University Grants Commission

The Institute worked with the college to draft the syllabus for radio. The college is properly equipped for the students’ needs and we know Dr. Mishra wants to turn its training studio into a live radio station run by the students as a community radio. We expect to hear of her success soon. Congratulations!

“I am convinced that if it were possible to move Mt. Everest, Manju Mishra would find a way to do it.”

Robert C. Kerr,
Former-Director of the American Center to Nepal 2002
